Introducing: Tyler Robertson
In the basement of an 1860’s church sits an unassuming studio, scattered with paint cups, worn down bristles, and paint splatter across the floor. This is Tyler Robertsons studio, an equine artist in Kentucky creating truly one-of-one heirloom canvas paintings.
Tyler was a teacher for 18 years and for 18 years he pushed his passion for art to the side. It wasn’t until 2015 when he set-up shop in a small Kentucky restaurant where he sold his first equine painting to a gentleman who admired his unique style, which ultimately gave Tyler confidence to commit to his craft. His paintings are a modern take on otherwise traditional subjects. His use of bold compositions, line work, colors and use of a pallet knife brings his paintings to life. Tyler’s work has quickly moved from friends and family commissions to painting for the likes of Makers Mark, Churchill Downs, and art galleries worldwide.

Last year, Tyler was named the official artist of Kentucky Derby 151. We are proud to continue our partnership on a limited edition Leather Decanter. Each Decanter was handcrafted by our makers in Louisville, hand painted by Tyler Robertson, and each Decanter is limited edition numbered. Full-grain vegetable-tanned steerhide requires minimal maintenance. Treat 1–2 times per year with a natural beeswax or lanolin leather balm. Light scratches and scuffs can be gently rubbed out with clean fingertips due to the rich concentration of natural oils impregnated during our 6-week tanning drum process.
